Deal Slippage Rate
The percentage of opportunities forecasted to close in a given period that instead push to a future period — a measure of forecast accuracy and sales execution discipline.
What it shows
High deal slippage signals forecast unreliability and often reveals systemic issues: uncommitted champions, missing economic buyers, or overly optimistic close date discipline from reps. Persistent slippage erodes leadership's trust in the revenue forecast entirely.
Formula
Deal Slippage Rate = Deals That Slipped Out of Forecast Period ÷ Total Deals Forecasted to Close in That Period × 100. Track both by count and by ACV.
